In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her live-in partner in Karnataka’s Bengaluru, while the incident came to light two days later.

Police officials informed on Wednesday that the victim, identified as Anusha, and the accused – 25-year-old Sharath – were staying together at a rented house in Malleswaram, Bengaluru.

The two of them were natives of Sakleshpur in Hassan district and came into contact with each other through Instagram. They had been staying together in a live-in relationship in Malleswaram for the past six months. The accused has been arrested in the matter.

The incident took place on Saturday night when Sharath, who worked as a water tanker driver in the city, is believed to have murdered Anusha after an argument over personal issues.

Shockingly, the crime remained undisclosed until Monday, when Sharath allegedly informed about it to his lawyer. Subsequently, the lawyer alerted the police and officials from the Seshadripuram Police Station visited the house and recovered the body.

Later on, a case was registered and the accused was taken into custody. The victim’s body was handed over to her family after the completion of post-mortem and other legal formalities.

As of now, police have arrested Sharath and are continuing their investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the murder.

This comes after a 22-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner in Bellandur police station limits on June 15. The accused took the extreme step after suspecting her to being in a relationship with another person.

The victim was identified as Aty Hangama Suba, 22, who hailed from Sikkim and was working as a receptionist at a salon. The accused – Purba Lepcha, 22, – belonged to Darjeeling and was working as a waiter at a private hotel.
